Construction codes can be imported from an MS Excel file, or from an e-Builder pre-set MasterFormat list.

Sample Excel templates are available for the following pre-set MasterFormat lists of divisions and classification codes:

• 1995 MasterFormat (16 Divisions)
• 2004 MasterFormat (50 Divisions)
• 2012 MasterFormat (50 Divisions)

Construction Divisions will be created automatically based on the first 2 digits of the imported construction codes.

If the Construction Code list needs to be updated at a later point, any new imported files will append new records to the existing list.

Codes that have been linked to any submittal package, bid package invitee or company cannot be deleted.

To import construction codes

1. Click Setup.

2. In the Administration Tools menu, click Construction Codes. The Manage Construction Divisions page is displayed.
3. Click Import. The Import Construction Codes page is displayed with a 3-step wizard.
4. To use the sample templates as the starting point for the Construction Codes list, click the appropriate link and download the Excel template. Make any updates to the file and save on your computer.
5. In the 3-step import wizard, perform the following mandatory actions:
   1. Choose your import file: Click Choose File and select the modified template, or another Excel file to be imported. Click Next.
   2. Verify construction code field mappings: Check that the columns of your spreadsheet match the Construction Code and Description fields. Click Next.
   3. Review the import construction codes summary: The import summary confirms the import file name, the number of rows in the file, and the number of rows that are to be imported. Check the Exceptions tab to view any rows that could not be imported.
6. Click Import to complete the process. In the message popup, click OK to confirm.
7. The Import CSI Codes page is displayed upon successful completion. Click Finish to confirm the import.
